Welcome
In our group, we combine theoretical, computational and experimental methods of solid mechanics to study the link between microstructure and macroscopic properties of a variety of (natural and architected) materials and metamaterials with diverse applications in science and technology. Among others, we explore how small-scale instabilities can be exploited to achieve controllable macroscopic performance and functionality in solids and structures. We develop new scale-bridging theory, advanced single- and multiscale computational techniques, and state-of-the-art experimental methods to guide our design of novel materials with tunable, exceptional, unusual, and beneficial mechanical and physical properties.
